Can't Run Anymore

Triathlon Event  Hi there, Great site!! As an ex-marathoner, because of knee problems and age (69), I am unable to run anymore. However, I have taken up swimming, which I love, and have recently thought about triathlons, except definately can’t run, and probably not even walk that portion of the race. Is there such a thing as a swim-bike race? Or, as an alternative, can I just do the first two legs of a tri, i.e. swim bike? Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Triathlon Event  Hi Bill,
Thank you for contacting!

The answer to your question is that there may be biathlons out there that have only swimming and biking in them, but they are hard to find. Normally the biathlons are running and biking. As a alternative, there are triathlons that combine swimming, biking and kayaking. Another alternative is to enter a triathlon as a relay. You can swim and bike and your friend can run. Or you can swim, and have two other friends complete the bike and run.

Be well.
