Pennsylvania Triathlon - Connellsville Parks and Recreation Triathlon

My First Triathlon.

First I want to say thanks to all the stories and articles I read, great inspiration and help.

I ran my first sprint triathlon on April 27, 2013 in the No Label Triathlon. We had a 300 meter indoor snake swim, 14 mile bike, and 5K

I have never done a tri, so some apprehension was there for me, but felt like I had trained hard for it. The swim started and was done by times. I got with all the people for an 8 min swim, and have to say I crushed it, in 7:00.3. PR for me. I thought once I got past the swim I was home free.

The bike (I was on an old mountain bike) was fine, but my brake started rubbing on the rim, and slowed me down, though I did this in 58 min.

The run after I got past the jelly leg was also a PR. I did this in 22.33.

My overall time was 1:30:19, I was shooting for 1:45, but have to say that the training and focus paid off, and was about the most fun I have had in a while. Nothing like passing people on the leg back in and cheering them on and seeing they are working just as hard to finish as you did. This is something you do for yourself, and just to raise your arms at the finish line and know that you accomplished a triathlon no matter how long, is such a great feeling.

Thanks again to all the readers that post, and information shared.
Cannot wait to do my next one in June.
