Marathoner Training for First Triathlon

Triathlon Event  I always wanted to do a triathlon. I ran a full and half marathons within the last 2 years. I just learned how to swim in a month and can only swim about 50 yards without getting tired. I can do the biking and running part fairly easy. I was wondering how long would I have to train for in order to do a triathlon? My main concern is my swimming since I am only able to swim 50 yards. How long will I have to train to be able to swim half a mile to 1 mile? Thank you for your help. Best Regards

Michael from California

Triathlon Event  Hi John,
Thank you for contacting!

It will take you bewteen 6-9 months to train for a sprint triathlon. We suggest that you grab a training guide and join a masters swim team or hire a coach for a few sessions. It makes a hug difference to have a professional evaluate your stroke and give you suggestions to improve your technique.

Let us know how it goes!

Be well.
