First Triathlon Story

I wanted to thank you and everyone who comments/contributes
on this site. I did my first Sprint Tri on Sunday - the Cannonman in Schellsburg, PA. The course was VERY hilly and wet after a night and early morning of rain. After being talked into signing up 10 days before the race and buying a bike 5 days before it, and learning to ride on clipless pedals (I NEVER fell!) I was pleasantly surprised at my race time. While I knew I hadn't properly trained, I knew I could finish and set a goal of 1:30:00 for myself. I finished in 1:29:52 - only a minute behind the 3rd place finisher in my age group and 65th out of 110. It was the most amazing experience and I can't wait for the next one!

I am sure that a great deal of my confidence and preparedness is due to this site and all of the information provided. My transition area was set up for maximum efficiency - I got out in under 2 min at each transition (beating my IronMan BF's T times!). I knew what to expect on each leg of the race and felt great! As a runner, I was not happy with my run time, but know what to do to improve it in 3 weeks when I do the Savageman 30.0. So - thank you TriathaNewbie! I couldn't have done it without you!!! Now, I'm off for a bike/run brick!

Hi Jacquelynn,
Thank you for contacting Triathanewbie.com; thank you for the kind words regarding the site; and congratulations on your first triathlon!

We imagine that you are very active in swimming, biking and running to have not trained and pulled in such a fantastic time -- well done! And you must be a natural cyclist to have hopped on a bike with clip-in pedals and not have taken a dive -- you're our hero!

We wish you the very best in your next triathlon and invite you to email us another great story. Imagine the potential you have inside and where it could bring you with an ounce of training!?!

Be well,
~Megan
